Some Facebook users around the world have discovered that access to their accounts has been locked for no apparent reason.
Your Facebook account has been disabled because you do not follow our community standards. This decision can not be overturned, it is a message that greeted many Facebook users when trying to log in to their user accounts.
One user told BBC News that he had not been given any warning or explanation. Meta says that they are investigating what it is about.
“We are aware that some users have problems accessing their Facebook accounts and we are working to resolve it as soon as possible,” Andy Stone of Meta said in a Twitter post.
However, he did not say how many users were affected by the problem, or what it was actually about.
Public relations consultant Jen Roberts was one of those who lost her profile, and in fact she has not posted anything on Facebook for some time.
“I have not posted or commented on anything for some time, so it is unlikely that I have done anything that could be interpreted as offensive,” she told BBC News.
But even though she is not an avid user of the most popular social network in the world, the fact that her profile was locked was still disturbing for her.
All pictures of my college years and family circumstances are on Facebook. I will no longer have access to content aged 15 and over, which is honestly sad. It is also quite stressful not to know what the problem is and not have a way to solve it. Surprising is the inconsistency, and then the way they access their own data, Roberts concluded.
