It has long been well known that Apple has big plans in the car market and should present its first electric vehicle with a high degree of autonomy during this decade, which the media called the Apple Car. Officially, of course, there is no information about that, but thanks to numerous rumors we know that their car should appear on the market between 2025 and 2028.
Hyundai and Kia were mentioned as some of the potential partners that Apple was supposed to work with on this car earlier this year. Hyundai almost confirmed its cooperation with Apple, but in the end all that information was denied. Companies such as BMW and Nissan, as well as startups Canoo, have also been mentioned as partners, but it seems that Apple has not yet found the right partner to start conquering the car market.
However, that could change soon, as according to a new South Korean media report, it appears Cook and the team are currently negotiating with several South Korean manufacturers of electric vehicle components. As in the case of Apple’s smartphone business, the company is looking for business partners in Korea for its electric vehicle business, an anonymous media source commented on Apple’s plans. According to these sources, Apple has already held successful meetings with several South Korean companies. Mention is made of SK Innovation, a subsidiary of SK Group specializing in electric vehicle batteries, then LG Electronics, as well as automobile parts manufacturer Magna International.
Given that it will be a long time before Apple introduces its car (of course, it is always possible that they will eventually abandon this project), it is clear that in the coming months and years we can expect a lot of new rumors about Apple Car, and I hope we can find out some official information from the company.
