Famous journalist Peter De Vries was shot dead in the center of Amsterdam last night.
He is in danger of death, according to Dutch media. De Vries, 64, was attacked as he left the studio of RTL television, where he was on a debate show.
Witnesses claim he was shot several times.
The journalist was taken to hospital with a wound on his head, due to which he is in a serious condition and is fighting for his life.
Police have arrested three suspects, including the attacker.
The motive is unknown, but a special commission has been set up to investigate the case.

The American disappeared in 2005 in Aruba and is thought to have been killed by a Dutchman.
