Six more bodies were found under the rubble of a building in Surfside, near Miami Beach in the US state of Florida, bringing the total death toll to 18.
Two children are among the victims, and local authorities say 147 people are still missing, Reuters reports.
More than 200 rescuers are continuing the search.
It is still being investigated what led to the demolition of the apartment building six days ago, but attention is focused on the structural damage listed in the 2008 Engineers’ Report released by Surfide city officials.
In that report, engineers found significant structural damage around the building’s swimming pool and deterioration of the cement in the underground garage.
