Romania could receive 500,000 refugees from neighboring Ukraine if the crisis with Russia worsens, Romanian Defense Minister Vasile Dancu said today.
– The assessments are ongoing. “We can accept more than 500,000 refugees, that is a number we are ready for,” Dancu said.
According to him, the authorities plan to open reception centers, especially in big cities along the common border, about 650 km long.
“For now, this is a purely hypothetical situation,” the Romanian minister said, adding that potential refugees could choose to go to Poland.
