The British Authorities Will Encourage Young People To Be Vaccinated With Discounts On Fees And Food

Young people in the United Kingdom will be offered discounts on food on demand and taxis to be vaccinated against Covid-19 and thus improve the vaccination of the population, BBC has announced.

Delivered food and taxi companies, including Uber, Bolt, Deliveroo and Pizza Pilgrims, will offer incentives for people to get vaccinated.

The health ministry said details of such co-operation would be released “in due course”.

According to the ministry, about 67 per cent of young people aged 18 to 29 in England received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

More than 72 per cent of adults in the United Kingdom have received both doses of the vaccine so far, while 88.5 per cent have received a single dose.

In August, Uber will send reminders to all users and invite them to get vaccinated, and will offer vaccinated young people cheaper taxi rides as well as meals on their Uber Eats platform.

Bolt, another taxi company through the app, will offer “free rides” to vaccination centers, while food delivery company Delivero will give vouchers to young vaccinated people.

The health ministry said other incentives could include “vouchers or discount codes for people scheduling vaccinations through the health ministry’s official website, social media prize games and promotional restaurant offers”.

The ministry says companies will not seek or store health data as part of an incentive plan.

Health Minister Sajid Javid thanked the companies for “enhanced” assistance in boosting vaccinations and urged people to “take advantage of the discounts”.

The announcement of the latest initiative in the government’s vaccination campaign comes after the opening of a series of vaccination centers that opened this weekend across England.

They are also open in places such as the Goodwood racetrack near Chichester or the Summer of Love Festival in Holland Park in west London.

The four-day festival with live music and free food and vaccination centers runs through Monday in Popal, east London.

But government ministers are negotiating with many other companies, and various discounts in cafes, restaurants and cinemas could soon follow.
