Ukrainian Foreign Minister: The US has Promised more Aid Through Sanctions and Weapons

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba announced today that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken had offered his country, which is being attacked by neighboring Russia, more aid through sanctions and weapons.

“In our conversation, Secretary Blinken reaffirmed that US support for Ukraine remains unwavering,” Kuleba wrote on Twitter.

“I emphasize that Ukraine longs for peace, but as long as we are under Russian attack we need more sanctions and weapons. The secretary reassured me of both. “We have coordinated further steps,” he said.

Washington has already imposed a series of sanctions in agreement with other Western allies to restrict Russia’s access to foreign funds, investment or technology in retaliation for Ukraine’s invasion.

The United States provided weapons to help Ukraine in the fall of 2021 and again in December, and on Friday, President Joe Biden ordered his State Department to release up to $ 350 million worth of weapons from US stockpiles.

But Washington has categorically rejected Ukraine’s request for the West to introduce a no-fly zone to protect Ukraine from Russian airstrikes – a move that would bring Western powers into direct conflict with the Russian military.
