Convoys of cars with refugees are moving indefinitely from Donbas to Russia.
Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered accommodation and financial assistance for Donbas refugees. The governor of the Rostov region, Vasily Golubev, called on Putin to provide emergency assistance to the region in connection with the unexpectedly large influx of refugees from the Donbas.
“Putin spoke by telephone with acting Minister of Emergency Situations Alexander Chuprian and instructed him to travel urgently to the Rostov region to arrange accommodation on the spot, and to provide hot meals and everything necessary, including medical assistance.” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
Putin also ordered the Russian government to provide immediate payment of 10,000 rubles, or about 115 euros, to each refugee arriving from Donbas in the Rostov region.
Earlier, the leadership of the self-proclaimed republic of Donbas announced a temporary evacuation of the population in the Russian Rostov region due to the danger of an attack by the Ukrainian army.
