Canadian police used pepper spray and stun grenades to disperse the crowd in Ottawa, following days of government protests.

Police violently suppressed protesters in the Canadian capital that was besieged, taking control of trucks and clearing streets in front of parliament, at the heart of the protest.

Dozens of trucks were moving away under increasing pressure, raising hopes that authorities would be able to quell a three-week protest against the coup and the government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

“We have given you time to leave. We were slow and methodical, and you showed aggression towards the police and the horses. “We are responding to your behavior by including helmets and batons for our safety,” the police said in a message to protesters on Twitter.
